YeastCyc is a Pathway/Genome Database of the model eukaryote
Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The sequence information was obtained from the reference genome for the strain
Saccharomyces cerevisiae S288c. In addition to genomic information, the database contains metabolic pathway, reaction, enzyme, and compound information, which has been manually curated from the scientific literature.
The database was generated in 2002 by the SGD project using SRI International's Pathway Tools software, and benefited from significant curation by SGD (SGD curation was funded by grant HG001315 from the National Human Genome Research Institute of the US National Institutes of Health). In 2012 the database was transferred to SRI International, where it is curated by curators from the SRI Bioinformatics Research Group, and from the Boyce Thompson Institute. That curation process includes periodic updates to the metabolites, reactions, and pathways from the current version of MetaCyc to ensure compatibility with other members of the MetaCyc family of databases. YeastCyc has been curated from 1,800 publications.
